Alison provides a safe and supportive environment for adults to explore issues and goals they define. With a non-judgmental and compassionate approach, she welcomes people of all orientations and lifestyles. This is a privileged and confidential relationship focusing on the emotional wellness of the whole person including a mind, body, and spirit perspective to cultivate healthy connections. The journey with Alison is designed to support you in finding your own inner wisdom, to heal from the inside out, and access the power within you to manifest and have an abundant life.

While Alison’s work is grounded in mindfulness, neuroscience and attachment theory, she incorporates her study of the spirit, the soul and all things metaphysical, going beyond the physical dimension of awareness, into her practice. Her approach is “psycho-spiritual” which integrates psychology, the study of the mind, emotions, body and spirit..

In personal counseling sessions, you can explore all areas of your life – personal, relational, sexual, spiritual and professional. People seek counseling for a variety of issues. Many come in seeking comfort, clarity, healing, self-growth, inspiration and overall well-being. Personal growth flourishes in a safe space to explore desires, concerns and goals.

“I wish I could show you, when you are lonely or in darkness, the astonishing light of your own being.”
On Being Your Best Self

Whatever the presenting issues are, life counseling can help you connect, go within, explore and learn ways to embrace life and be your best self.  Intentional therapeutic focus leads to finding an inner state of awareness, skills for self-regulating, expressing emotions and understanding their wisdom. You’ll gain awareness as to how your emotions are a form of your inner soul’s expression. You’ll learn ways to be “self-led,” which means you’re connected to your own inner center of awareness, strength and light. When you connect and come from this place you feel calm, confident, compassionate, creative and connected, within and without.

Life counseling can help with understanding patterns of behavior, thoughts and beliefs, and help heal and transcend them, while realizing the truth of your inner being. It potentially can help you come to a place where you ultimately realize that not only is there nothing wrong with you, but that you are already the light that you seek.

“Come from a space of peace and you’ll find you can deal with anything.”

On Soul and Spirit Connection

For those interested in exploring the great mysteries in life, matters related to the spirit, the soul, and realms beyond the ego and the physical dimension, are shared.  You can explore the great questions such as “who am I” and “what is my purpose”. You’ll learn the differences between being in ego versus being in soul.  You’ll learn ways to connect within, to listen to your own inner wisdom and even connect to your spirit guides, if you are inclined.  In soul and spirit connection you can learn about your true essence, manifesting your desires, creating the life you want to live, and the “I AM” awareness state of being. It’s learning about turning in, discovering the light that is within you, and being centered at your core while opening up to a greater sense of oneness that is within all.

Alison often utilizes her training in hypnotherapy to guide clients in meditations to connect to their inner wisdom and spiritual guides.

“I didn’t transcend ego, we became partners, we became teammates.”

On Relationships

In relationship work with Alison, the focus is on healthy connections, within and with others.  It is collaborative and compassionate.  It is learning the necessary skills that are not taught well in our culture: to communicate, manage emotions, stay calm and centered, and to be present to listen, attune and attend. We all have an innate desire to belong, to be with and to be seen. Alison is trained in the Intimacy From the Inside Out (IFIO) therapeutic model which helps people learn a powerful way to go within, develop a deeper connection to themselves and be able to communicate in a way they can be better understood.  The IFIO premise is that couples enter into couples therapy holding two goals they experience as mutually exclusive – to feel loved and to feel understood. IFIO offers a comprehensive conceptual map to achieve both goals.

Some people come in to explore their own issues, whether in relationships or not. Some work on relationship aspects without their partner present because they want the safety of the space to explore issues or decisions they aren’t ready to explore with their partner. Also, sometimes their partner isn’t ready to attend.  Either way it can be beneficial to the individual and relationship.

“Many people living long lives today have 1, 2, 3 marriages and sometimes all with the same person.”

On Intimacy and Sex

Healthy sexuality is a birthright and so often not addressed or supported in life and in the consultation room. Alison’s approach to sex therapy is integrative and holistic, which entails looking at the biological, psychological and social situation of each person.

Alison studied and became knowledgeable and accredited as a sex therapist because sexual intimacy issues constantly arose as issues during therapy. Much can be done to improve sexual wellness, function and intimacy when these issues are addressed. This is an integral aspect of one’s overall well-being.

Sex therapy covers a wide range of issues around healthy sexuality and helps individuals and couples connect, deepen, rekindle and improve both physical and emotional intimacy.  It is essentially talk therapy focused on intimate feelings, actions, and a history of your sex life at a pace that is right for you.  Alison offers a comfortable, safe and supportive environments to discuss these personal issues.

“That which you are seeking is always seeking you”

Alison enjoys working with a wide range of therapists and other professionals in a consultation capacity. She incorporates her extensive professional trainings, personal work, study and teachings and offers it in her consultation and supervision to therapists, and other professionals.

Being a therapist, holistic provider, or any kind of leader, takes a certain amount of energy, discipline and insight. It requires a substantial amount of self care to access the best in yourself to be fully present with others. In consultation you can create your own self care package, including case supervision, your own self work and skill development, professional skills, and spiritual work if desired.

Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe
